I highly recommend Azby’s book, and am sure it will appeal to environmentalists, architects, urban planners, historians, futurists, and people who love Japan. Al, I agree with you that a cultural approach is the best for creating future change. Will Azby’s book be translated into Japanese? I am hopeful about its impact here in Japan.

Can’t wait to get my hands on a copy. It looks like a valuable tool for those of us trying to promote sustainable housing within Japan. Citing Japanese traditions that are sustainable will provide better traction than merely citing Western exemplars. Thanks.
