Fall fruit growing in Tokyo’s back streets
Tokyo’s large boulevards often have grand ginko and zelkova trees. On the back streets, Tokyo gardeners grow all sorts of ornamental and fruit trees. Recently, I have noticed oranges, persimmons, and even pomegranate growing in my neighbors’ tiny gardens and balconies.
It would be great to see even more fruit growing in Tokyo and the world’s largest cities.
Wow, that’s really cool! I enjoyed the pictures. It’s not a big city, but I used to live in Nong Khai, Thailand, and there starfruit would just fall on the ground from the big starfruit trees! So crazy….in Canada, one starfruit is like 3$, but there…falling on the ground.
It would be nice if all cities had fruit trees so homeless people or hungry people could eat them, but don’t know how logistically that would be possible.
